Sheena Appelt
Sheena Appelt graduated from the University of Alberta with her Masters of Science in Physical Therapy in 2009. As a graduate student, Sheena was part of a research group that published a paper on assessing and predicting the outcomes of work related injuries. Prior to her graduate studies, Sheena completed a Bachelor of Science with Honours in Biology in 2007.
Sheena started her physiotherapy career at the Workers' Compensation Board - Alberta Millard Health Centre. Here Sheena was part of a multi-disciplinary team working to rehabilitate injured workers. Sheena joined the team at the Kinsmen Sports Centre Physical Therapy Clinic in 2011.
Since graduating, Sheena has continued her education by taking courses in the McKenzie Method of Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy (MDT), anatomical acupuncture, and office ergonomics. In the future, Sheena is planning on continuing her training with additional courses in MDT and acupuncture.
Sheena has a strong interest in sports related injuries, taking an active approach to therapy. She has been active in soccer and track and field, playing competitively throughout her youth and coaching in the past. She continues to remain active with running and working out, and trying her hand at various other sports such as golf and tennis.
